Recreating the scenario would be quite easy, I think.
1. Choose a material (Material X) and do an MR21 with different prices for CoCd and Group currency/Grp Val (31).
2. Post a consumption for this material through a production order for another material (Material Y). Make sure Y has no price difference between CoCd and Group currency/Grp Val (31).
3. Post a GR for material Y
4. Settle the production order for Y
5. Check the price analysis for Y .... you should have price difference for Y!!!
We logged a service request with SAP. (I am going to get banned by SAP for saying the following!).
SAP gave us a ridiculously wordy answer: "The two currency are not compliant because
the posting logic differs for the first local currency and parallel currencies. This happens when Material Ledger is active. Even when the two currencies are the same, we still cannot expect alwaysthe same value since different methods are used in the calculations behind. The currencies managed in the material ledger are updated independently of each other".
My confusion is: when both currencies are the same (USD), how and why they should come up with differences regardless of the logic you use, and secondly, we were not asking HOW or WHY THESE HAPPEN, because we knew the exact causes and are eliminating these causes, but we were asking HOW TO FIX THEM.
It is horrible, because with price differences in the CoCd (CurType 10) and Group Curr/Grp Val (CurType 31), when we do a 201 movement (to cost center), we get a hard error (asking us to configure an account determination to post the price differences) -- which the company won't do since they'll have to explain the differences to the auditors. The workaround is to carryout an MR21 each time and fix the rates in CoCd and Grp curr/Grp val -- sometimes several times in a day. And the very sad thing is the very next GR for this material (which has the GI's with old prices with differences) will corrupt the balances again. We are in a never ending loop.
Hope some of the ML experts can shed some light on how to fix this nuisance.
