ARIBA content (ESR objects) are not standard content(it's 3rd party content) , you can edit any object.
Is it possible to edit mapping present under BASIS Object?
Yes it is possible. since you don't want to change existing mapping . copy the object(you can copy in same namespace with different name 
) as Michal said.
